Job summary

A global manufacturing firm in Apex, NC is looking for a B Shift lead to oversee a productive work area during evening hours. Qualifications

  • Monitor associate productivity and quality performance.

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

The B Shift lead is accountable for productive and efficient work area(s) including the direction of team members. B shift is Monday-Friday, 3pm-11:30pm EST. This position will be based in our Apex, NC Distribution Center.

The Build (Responsibilities)
  • Provide assistance and direction to other associates ensuring productivity goals are met
  • Ensure a positive work environment through clear and effective communication with others
  • Monitor and control the level of work on the floor to meet the business needs
  • Ensure all training is provided and completed (new associates, re-training, etc.)
  • Implement efficient distribution center processes to reduce cost and lead time and to help meet/exceed distribution center productivity targets
  • Allocate human resources to improve employee utilization and productivity
  • Monitor and control associate productivity and quality performance including metrics updates on area boards
  • Process system transactions for reporting and performance measurement
  • Communicate distribution facility policies and procedures so that they are understood and adhered to by other distribution facility associates.
  • Enforce all safe practices and safety guidelines including 5S in all areas of distribution. Be involved in accident investigations and resolutions to unsafe practices, behaviors, and work conditions.
  • Report all maintenance related issues to maintenance department by following standard work order procedure
  • Participate in business operations as needed that may fall outside of standard shift hours including weekends.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 2+ Years of Distribution (or relevant) experience
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to operate equipment including RF scanner
  • Ability to provide a high level of direction and customer service under minimal supervision
  • Ability to consistently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to consistently move in a full-range of motion
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a WMS, SAP
  • Experience in data and trend analysis, root cause problem solving
  • Previous experience operating a standup forklift and/or pallet jack
  • Associates degree in related field
