Job summary

Thompson Palm Springs, part of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, is hiring a Shift Engineer to oversee general maintenance across guest rooms, meeting spaces, and back-of-house areas. The role includes preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, with basic troubleshooting using a windows-based system.

A minimum of three years in building maintenance is preferred. This is a nonexempt hourly position with a budgeted rate of $24.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Open scheduling availability including evenings, weekends, overnights and holidays preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics is preferred.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift, push, and pull a moderate weight (about 50 pounds).

Responsibilities

As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest room, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. A Shift Engineer will also perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems, using a windows-based computer system. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is preferred, along with basic trouble-shooting skills. A minimum of three years building maintenance experience is required with hotel experience preferred. Good communication skills are necessary.
