Job summary

Thompson Palm Springs is seeking a friendly Shift Engineer to join our luxury desert resort in downtown Palm Springs. You will handle general maintenance and repairs across guest rooms, meeting spaces, and public areas, plus back-of-house systems such as kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, reading blueprints, and basic troubleshooting. A minimum of three years in building maintenance is required, with hotel experience preferred,

• Open scheduling availability including evenings, weekends, overnights and holidays preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred.
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
• Refined verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances.
• Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight (about 50 pounds).
• Must be a team player but able to work independently as well.
• Able to multitask and prioritize assignments.

As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest room, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. A Shift Engineer will also perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems, using a windows-based computer system. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is preferred, along with basic trouble‑shooting skills. A minimum of three years building maintenance experience is required with hotel experience preferred. Good communication skills are necessary.

This is a nonexempt (hourly) role. The budgeted rate for this role is $24.00. This is the hourly rate for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual hourly rates will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.
