Job summary

The Atlas Hotel in Boston, operated by Highgate Hotels, seeks a Shift Engineer responsible for maintaining the property in optimal condition with minimal guest disruption. You will manage plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building systems to ensure reliability and safety.

Key tasks include routine maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, lighting projects, safety compliance, and rapid response to service requests.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Trade school and/or college coursework in a related field is helpful.
• Flexibility and willingness to work long hours.
• Must be able to lift heavy loads and handle physical tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication with all levels of staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs across guest rooms and public areas including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and finishes to ensure guest comfort.
• Maintain and service major building systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
• Replace and program televisions, repair electronic lock systems, and install/repair lighting components.
• Complete carpentry and cosmetic repairs including painting and wall coverings.
• Monitor equipment, read readings, test cooling towers, and identify abnormalities.
