Job summary

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa seeks a Shift Commander to supervise Security Officers on their shift, uphold safety, and respond to emergencies across the resort. You will lead patrols, enforce policies, and ensure guest and employee safety while protecting property.

You will coordinate with hotel departments, maintain equipment and records, and provide timely reports. A valid driver’s license and prior security or supervisory experience are required or strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older with a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year previous work experience in security, military, law enforcement, or related field.
• At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and qualify for driving resort vehicles.
• CPR and AED training preferred.
• Must pass background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and evaluate security personnel on shift.
• Ensure fire, safety, and health equipment is present and functional.
• Assist routine patrols of interior and exterior areas.
• Familiar with building layouts and department procedures.
• Understand Salto key system for access control and locks.
• Understand fire systems and alarm procedures and notification processes.
• Lead in emergencies and coordinate with guests and staff.
• Prepare complete, concise reports for legal and insurance purposes.
• Maintain MSDS master file and log monthly fire extinguisher checks.
• Respond to emergencies (fire, power outage, medical, etc.) and ensure safety.
