Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse supervisor to coordinate unit operations during a shift, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations. The role includes oversight of RNs and non-licensed staff and collaboration across disciplines to achieve optimal outcomes.

The position requires a Texas RN license, a Bachelor’s in Nursing, and active CPR.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital-based acute care setting is required.
• Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
• Current CPR training required.
• ACLS obtained within 6 months of being in the position.
• PALS obtained within 6 months of being in the position for Endoscopy, Emergency, Operating Room, Recovery and Ambulatory Surgical Unit.
• TNCC or ATCN obtained within 1 year of being in the position for Emergency, ICU, Medical Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU, and Recovery.
• ENPC obtained within 1 year of being in the position for the Emergency department.
• Obtainment of a national nursing certification in specialty area within 2 years of being in the position is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate unit operations on a shift to ensure quality patient care and optimal operational efficiency.
• Oversee the work of RNs and non-licensed nursing staff.
• Assist Nurse Manager/Director in the management of patient care.
• Direct and coordinate all nursing care for patients according to established clinical nursing practice standards.
• Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery.
• Support the organization’s vision and mission.
• Utilize knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity in patient care.
• Contribute to quality improvement with positive patient outcomes.
