Job summary

Orica is seeking a SHES Specialist for the Winnemucca, Nevada site to identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and strengthen a proactive safety culture. You will support training, incident investigations, and compliance with OSHA and company standards.

The role involves leading Major Hazard Management and industrial hygiene programs, coordinating monitoring activities, and ensuring SDS documentation is up to date.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, EHS, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline preferred.
• Three (3) or more years of safety, health, environmental, or related experience preferred.
• Professional safety certification or ability to obtain relevant certifications.
• Experience supporting safety programs within manufacturing, chemical, mining, industrial, or similar operational environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of hazard identification, incident investigation, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards and risks.
• Lead the development and continuous improvement of Major Hazard Management (MHM) program.
• Manage industrial hygiene monitoring programs including exposure sampling and PPE administration.
• Coordinate industrial hygiene and medical monitoring programs to support health and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain and administer the site's SDS program and ensure accessible safety information.
• Develop and implement health and safety programs and induction training.
• Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce safe work practices.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses using root cause analysis to drive improvement.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.
