The Sheriff's Department is seeking experienced Facilities Maintenance Mechanics who are responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and modification of buildings, fixtures, and equipment within the correctional/institutional facilities of the Sheriff's Department. These positions perform a full range of skilled maintenance and repair work and may supervise and direct the work of inmate workers.

Detention Differential: Employees in the classifications of Sheriff's Maintenance Mechanic Trainee and Sheriff's Maintenance Mechanic assigned to work at a detention center(s) shall be entitled to $1.50 per hour over and above their base hourly rate for hours actually worked at this facility.
Must possess one of the following options:
NOTE: Residential or light commercial new construction experience is NOT considered qualifying. Clearly describe your experience in the Employment History section of your online application. An excellent candidate will have extensive experience in the maintenance of institutional buildings, to include electrical wiring, plumbing systems, and HVAC systems. Possession of Universal CFC Card or welding certification is also desirable; indicate possession and certification numbers on application.
Examination: There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. It is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible, as resumes will not be reviewed in lieu of the application materials.
