Job summary

Operation Kindness Humane Society in Carrollton, TX is seeking a Vet Tech (Veterinary Technician) to join our team and support veterinarians with daily medical care for shelter animals.

The role requires weekend and holiday availability, a commitment to compassionate care, and the ability to work with staff, volunteers, and clients. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, a 403b plan and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Veterinary Technician Certification desirable but not required.
• Minimum one year experience as a Vet Tech Assistant or similar role.
• Know how to draw blood and set catheters.
• Familiar with assisting with anesthesia strongly preferred.
• Know how to intubate strongly preferred.
• English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that shelter animals receive proper veterinary care in a timely manner.
• Takes precautions per shelter policies to prevent illness or injury.
• Makes daily rounds of cat and dog rooms; isolate ill animals early.
• Assist veterinarians in procedures as requested.
• Dispenses medications and injections per guidelines.
• Maintains health records including surgeries and billing verification.
• Counsels clients on dosages and home care; answers client questions the same day.
• Reports unsafe conditions; maintains confidentiality; completes required training.
• Participates in shelter events and performs other duties as assigned.
