Job summary

NOCO Humane is seeking a veterinary professional to perform high-volume shelter surgeries and provide medical care across a diverse patient population. The role emphasizes population health, collaboration with multiple teams, and a commitment to humane, evidence-based care.

The position offers a full-time, salaried exempt role in northern Colorado, with relocation assistance and a competitive annual salary in the $115k–$120k range. A DEA license and Colorado license eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Current Colorado veterinary license or eligibility for licensure.
• Professional liability insurance and eligibility to carry a DEA license.
• Experience in companion animal medicine and surgery.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).

Responsibilities

• Perform surgeries (spay/neuter, dental) for shelter animals.
• Conduct exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and ongoing medical management.
• Join rounds and collaborate with teams on population health.
• Supervise technicians, assistants, students, interns, and volunteers.
• Decide on treatment, quality of life, transfers, and euthanasia.
• Support community vaccine and spay/neuter clinics.
• Help develop medical protocols and train staff on shelter medicine.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with policies.
• Support other campuses as needed.
