Job summary

NOCO Humane in northern Colorado seeks a Shelter Veterinarian to deliver high-quality medical and surgical care within shelter medicine standards. You will work with multiple teams to support animal health, welfare, and population management.

The role includes spay/neuter surgeries, exams, treatment planning, and on-call duties with occasional emergencies. Colorado license and DEA eligibility required; strong shelter experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed (or eligible) to practice veterinary medicine in Colorado and maintain licensure in good standing.
• Must maintain professional liability insurance and required certifications.
• Must be eligible to carry a DEA license, as requested.

Responsibilities

• Perform spay/neuter surgeries, dental procedures, and other surgeries as appropriate for shelter and owned animals.
• Provide examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, and medical management per medical standards.
• Collaborate across departments on animal care, population health, welfare, and case management.
• Maintain accurate medical records in the EMR system.
• Supervise and mentor veterinary staff and volunteers during procedures.
