Job summary

Location: SoDo (1039 6th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134)

Schedule: Wednesday-Sunday, 10:00 pm - 6:30 am

Pay: $25.05 / hour

Status: Regular Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Applicants must be available for in-person interviews in Seattle, WA.

The Shelter Support Staff are responsible for various tasks including scheduling client intakes via telephone referral, conducting client interviews, processing guest intake data, and conducting security rounds. They work closely with participants of the King County Shelter Program, providing basic needs, services, or de-escalating negative client interactions. The position receives supervision from the King County Shelter Program Manager, Supervisor, or designated assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Respond to crisis and inquiry telephone calls by providing support, information, and referrals to social services.
  2. Assist residents to ensure a safe environment, including compliance with rules.
  3. Conduct periodic inspections of the facility to identify hazards, inappropriate behavior, needed repairs, or other notable conditions.
  4. Respond to emergency situations, making decisions within policy guidelines, and providing timely notifications to emergency services.
  5. Conduct client intakes and departure processes as required by department policy.
  6. Provide orientation, support, and supervision to clients.
  7. Assist with the orientation and training of new staff and volunteers.
  8. Work cooperatively with other Salvation Army staff and represent the programs to community agencies.
  9. Maintain case records and required documentation.
  10. Comply with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  11. Prepare water, coffee, snacks for guests as needed.
  12. Perform general cleaning of the facility, including bathrooms, sleeping areas, and common areas.
  13. Work with janitorial staff as assigned.
  14. Perform other duties as requested.
Education & Experience
  1. HS Diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum 6 months experience in public contact or customer service.
  3. Experience in social service shelter/residential settings preferred.
  4. WA Driver's License preferred.
