Job summary

Westhab Inc. is seeking a Residential Aide in Brooklyn, NY to support clients with daily living needs and collaborate with the social services team.

The role requires strong communication and the ability to assist with basic services, including housing-related support and documentation. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED (Associate's degree preferred) and at least 1 year of experience with homeless or special-needs populations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred. 1-year experience dealing with homeless or special needs population.
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular area inspections to ensure shelter rules are adhered to.
  • Monitor lounges, laundry rooms, and cafeteria to ensure clients are adhering to schedules and drop-in rules.
  • Provide clients with locks, linen and toiletries.
  • Remove contraband items from dorms and inform clients of shelter regulations.
  • Store and remove client property from the client storage/locker area.
  • Maintain records in CARES and update client records per policy.
  • Complete intakes for new clients and provide orientation to DHS rules and regulations.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills and cleaning areas, laundry, hygiene, etc.
  • Fill in for kitchen staff and maintenance staff when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
