Job summary

Redwood Community Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Counselor for Xamitin Haven in Lakeport, CA.

This full-time role works with individuals experiencing homelessness, assisting with housing resources, shelter access, and daily needs in a low-barrier, client-centered environment. The position emphasizes empathy, crisis de-escalation, and trauma-informed practice, with Spanish or ASL language skills strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in homelessness, social services, hospitality, mental health, substance use, or similar areas.

Responsibilities

• Monitor guest interactions and behaviors; intervene to maintain a safe, stable environment.
• Walk the facility to check safety and security; engage with guests and respond to incidents.
• De-escalate disruptive situations and redirect behavior using non- physical measures.
• Communicate with on-call supervisor for guidance and incident reporting.
• Provide services aligned with harm reduction, Housing First, and person-centered approaches.
