Job summary

Project Renewal is seeking a Residential Aide for the Barbara Kleiman Men’s Shelter in New York. You will help operate a 200-bed, 24/7 shelter, handle intakes, bed assignments, census duties, and supply items to residents in need.

Responsibilities include incident reporting, shift logs, DHS CARES database use, and adherence to safety protocols. CPR/First Aid and Narcan training are required, with weekend/holiday availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience with underserved populations is a plus.
• Fire safety credentials and CPR/First Aid certification required within 15 days of training.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use DHS CARES database.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities essential for client support.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day shelter operations and client intake.
• Process bed assignments, maintain census records, and report to DHS daily figures.
• Provide clothing and personal care items to clients.
• Distribute mail, appointment slips, and documentation.
• Write detailed incident reports and maintain shift summaries/logs.
• Operate DHS CARES database and participate in trainings.
• Utilize CPR/First Aid and Narcan in emergencies; enforce Fire Safety Plan.
