Job summary

Hildebrand Family Self-Help Center, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Residential Assistant to support families in residence at the Hildebrand shelter. You will help maintain a safe, clean living environment and assist with room upkeep and adherence to program rules.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, experience in human services, ability to lift 25 pounds, and CPR/SFA certification within 30 days of hire. Bilingual Haitian Creole or Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in human services or residential programs preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds and navigate stairs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Promote and model a clean, harmonious, and welcoming living environment, supporting safety and well-being of families in residence at the Hildebrand congregate shelter.
• Ensure that each family has a safe, clean and adequately furnished room.
• Oversee the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility during the assigned work period, including 30-minute checks and room cleanliness.
• Oversee and monitor rules, policies, procedures and protocols that govern community living for families and visitors; ensure compliance with policies and Hildebrand requirements.
• Support the Residential Manager/Case Manager in developing Re-Housing Plan activities to help families move out of shelter and gain independence.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and required activities to stay current on program functions.
• Follow agency rules and systems to meet residents’ goals.
