Job summary

Doorways-For-Women-and-Families in Arlington, VA seeks a Home Coordinator to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence in the Safehousing Program. This on-site, full-time role covers shelter operations, crisis response, case management, and 24-hour hotline back-up.

You will supervise children, run meetings, document interactions, and ensure safety and confidentiality per agency policy while assisting volunteers and reporting to Shelter Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field.
• Master’s degree in social work or counseling preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in domestic and sexual violence or residential setting.
• Thorough knowledge of trauma-informed practice and direct experience applying this knowledge.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to relate to diverse populations and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary shelter coverage and secondary hotline coverage.
• Maintain client confidentiality per policy and ensure child supervision.
• Provide in-person supportive services such as crisis intervention and safety planning.
• Facilitate house meetings, client activities and support groups.
• Document Safehouse and hotline data entry per protocols.
• Complete intake processes and elevate concerns to management.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to policies in both shelter and scattered sites.
• Train and support volunteers and home coordinators as needed.
• Act as point of contact for volunteers during shifts.
