Job summary

Shelter House is seeking a Residential Coordinator for a 85-unit Fairfax County emergency shelter serving families with children. You will provide 24-hour awake coverage, supervise front desk operations, and ensure a safe, supportive living environment.

You will coordinate with case managers to advance client service plans and document daily activities. Key responsibilities include rounds, crisis intervention, and ensuring compliance with agency policies.

Qualifications

• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and team members.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe functioning of the shelter and maintain a safe environment for clients. Monitor visitor check-in and front desk calls and inquiries.
• Perform shifts and rounds, monitor building grounds.
• Update the daily log with interactions and events.
• Collaborate with case managers to support and reinforce service plans.
• Complete efficient shift exchanges and report daily activities for consistency.
• Ensure documentation complies with agency policies and best practices.
• Distribute household items and provide basic needs support during shifts.
• Conduct residential cleaning and organize supplies.
• Organize and restock linens, toiletries and donations.
• Perform weekly unit inspections and maintain confidentiality.
• Administer emergency procedures and safety management knowledge.
• Handle after-hours assessments for One-Night-Only families seeking shelter.
