Job summary

Shelter House, Inc. is seeking a Residential Coordinator for a Fairfax, VA shelter. This role provides 24-hour awake coverage for a large emergency shelter serving families with minor children, including crisis intervention, front desk supervision, and safety management.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in human services, and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Proficiency in Google Suites and Microsoft Office is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years in human services field (mental health, homelessness, etc.).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe functioning of the shelter and a safe environment for clients.
• Monitor rounds and the building grounds.
• Document interactions in the daily log and coordinate with case managers.
• Support and reinforce client service plans; communicate progress.
