Job summary

Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ seeks a Shelter Medicine Program Coordinator to support the Animal Health Institute’s shelter and community medicine programs. You will coordinate clinical events, community partnerships, logistics, data management, and client communication to ensure smooth operations and timely reporting to stakeholders.

You will work with veterinary staff, faculty, students, and partners to deliver high-quality services in shelter, mobile clinic, and outreach settings,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s orBachelor’s degree in animal science preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive clinical experience.
  • Experience with high-volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine program preferred.
  • CVT certification from the State of Arizona or VT certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience coordinating calendars, clinical operations, field-based services, or multi-site events preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shelter medicine events, mobile clinics, and outreach activities with faculty and partners.
  • Serve as liaison with shelter partners, rescues, municipal agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Manage pre-event planning: site readiness, access, equipment, and post-event follow-up.
  • Maintain a complex program calendar with veterinarians, technicians, students, and events.
  • Assist with patient care, treatments, and setup/breakdown of clinics as needed.
  • Support student education by facilitating rotations and teaching with faculty.
