Job summary

SF SPCA is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support shelter medicine by organizing and entering medical records, and coordinating with the Foster Department on medical cases. The role requires veterinary terminology familiarity and data entry in our digital records system.

You will also assist with scheduling, scribing exam notes, and supporting veterinarians during foster appointments, including medications and injections, while maintaining accurate patient documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in a veterinary clinic.
• Minimum of one year in an administrative role.
• Commitment to SF SPCA mission and values.
• Strong planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Read and review patient records from source shelters.
• Enter all patient data, vaccines, treatments and follow-up care.
• Create medical records for surgery patients from partner shelters.
• Prepare intake paperwork for vaccines and preventatives at exams.
• Schedule post-operative medications and follow-up care.
