Academic Requirements

Required: Associate degree or bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree from an accredited program/university, preferably in social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology, or a related field.
Preferred: Graduate degree from an accredited program/university in a related field.

Certifications
  • First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention
Work Experience

Required: Minimum of one (1) year of related experience and/or training
Preferred: Two (2) or more years of related experience and/or training

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables
  1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to the position.
  2. Supervise development of shift schedules and staff assignments.
  3. Monitor zone supervisors to ensure daily progress and activities are documented accurately and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  4. Assist with orientation of new children and staff.
  5. Provide input into development of treatment plans as appropriate.
  6. Maintain knowledge of positive child management techniques including verbal redirection, de-escalation, and containment.
  7. Plan, organize and supervise activities for children in accordance with the daily activity schedule.
  8. Maintain a secure campus environment by making rounds as required and properly using radio communication protocols, including responding to all radio calls.
  9. Be a positive role model for the service population.
  10. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by the position supervisor.
  11. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating with children and staff in case of an emergency.
  12. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  13. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with the required dress code at all times.
Other Responsibilities
  1. Supervise zone supervisors to ensure staffing levels meet each child’s needs and comply with contracts and regulatory requirements.
  2. Schedule appointments for children and follow up to ensure each child’s essential needs are met.
  3. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel and other professionals—including law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and community resources.
  4. Regularly observe and evaluate buildings, grounds, equipment, staff, children, vehicles and other program resources and address issues as needed.
  5. Frequently traverse from one area of the physical plant to another.
  6. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
  7. Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.
Requirements
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens during employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background check.
  • Demonstrate ability to:
    • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
    • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
    • Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
    • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
    • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
Immunization Requirements

Employees must receive an annual Influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption as a medical or religious accommodation.
