Job summary

A community support organization based in New York is seeking a Porter to maintain cleanliness and perform minor repairs at their women's shelter in Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of building maintenance experience, preferably in a large residential setting. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, maintaining the grounds, and ensuring overall safety and hygiene standards are met. A focus on interpersonal skills is essential, along with a valid NYS Driver’s License preferred.

Qualifications

• At least two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting working with special needs population required.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills.
• NYS Driver’s License Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility.
• Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance.
• Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal.
• Conduct periodic building inspections for hazardous conditions.
• Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery.
• Responsible for laundering bed linens and towels.
• Assist with periodic boiler and water heater inspections.
• Drive agency vehicles.
• Maintain CPR/ First Aid Certification.
