Job summary

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. seeks a full-time Kitchen Assistant to support culinary operations at the agency. The role covers food preparation, supply deliveries, inventory, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety.

You will work with program managers to follow approved menus, supervise clients in the kitchen, and assist with invoices and procurement to ensure timely, compliant service.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic sanitation rules and practices.
• Knowledge of food ordering and inventory practices.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Current Louisiana Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Serv-Safe certification (preferred).
• 6 months experience in a group home or health care setting (preferred).
• Hospital/Healthcare experience (preferred).
• Cleaning experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist with all kitchen related activities.
• Assist in preparation and cooking of food.
• Assist in the delivery of all food and kitchen supplies.
• Supervise clients assigned to work in the kitchen.
• Direct cleaning of kitchen and food storage area.
• Ensure safety practices related to kitchen and equipment.
• Conduct and document weekly inventory.
• Label and organize food and supplies by date.
• Assist with invoices and requisitions for food and equipment purchasing.
• Coordinate with Program Managers to follow approved menus.
