Job summary

The Walton County Animal Shelter seeks a Kennel Technician to care for animals, feed and clean enclosures, and support medical and behavioral needs under veterinary staff guidance. Responsibilities include intake processing, daily animal monitoring, medication assistance, and safe handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of related experience for Level I; 2 years for Level II.
• Valid Driver License required; animal control and euthanasia certs preferred.
• Ability to work with inmates and complete required trainings within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, humane care to animals in the shelter.
• Clean kennels and cages; maintain sanitary work areas.
• Feed, monitor health, and administer medications with supervision.
• Receive, document, and release animals; maintain intake/adoption records.
• Supervise inmate trustees in kennel operations and animal care.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and manage supplies inventory.
• Offer professional customer service to the public and staff.
• Work weekends/holidays as scheduled; participate in trainings.
