Job summary

Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Inc. seeks a Shelter Entry Coordinator to warmly welcome clients, facilitate intake, address immediate needs, and connect survivors with their assigned case workers within the Emergency Shelter program.

The role requires a 4-year degree in a related field and 1 year of supervised social service or mental health experience, with strong communication and trauma-informed care. Bilingual Spanish preference is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Education: 4-year degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • Experience: 1 year of supervised social service or mental health work; nonprofit preferred.
  • Knowledge: awareness of social justice, violence against survivors, and trauma-informed care.
  • Spanish bilingual preferred; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients with empathy and orient them to the Emergency Shelter program.
  • Facilitate intake, assess needs, provide crisis intervention, and referrals.
  • Document and maintain resident files per DVIS guidelines.
  • Serve as liaison between Shelter and other service providers.
  • Coordinate with departments and agencies for seamless transitions.
  • Provide coverage for Safe Housing on-call rotation and support residents.
