Job summary

Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) seeks a Shelter Entry Coordinator to warmly welcome new clients, facilitate intake, and connect survivors with their case workers. The role acts as a liaison across programs to ensure holistic shelter support and coordinates essential services.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, client orientation, documentation, and collaboration with external agencies to promote safe housing and positive outcomes for survivors.

Qualifications

  • Education: 4-year degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • Experience: 1 year of supervised experience in a social service or mental health environment.
  • Knowledge/abilities: social justice, equity, and inclusion; Spanish bilingual preferred; strong communication and organization; ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients with empathy and explain the Emergency Shelter program and expectations.
  • Conduct intakes and needs assessments; refer to community resources as needed.
  • Document resident files per DVIS guidelines and promote a positive shelter environment.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning; assist with referrals and service navigation.
  • Coordinate with other DVIS departments and external agencies for seamless transitions.
  • Cover Safe Housing on-call rotation and support residents with paperwork.
