Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a compassionate shelter assistant to manage overnight resident care, screening, and intake records in a structured facility. You will support safety protocols, answer calls, receive visitors, and help coordinate donations and essential supplies.

Responsibilities include maintaining secure premises, logging information, and assisting with HMIS data entry while providing courteous service to residents and callers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• HMIS data entry experience preferred.
• Telephone switchboard responsibilities.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and processes residents overnight, ensures safety and adherence to house rules.
• Answers the telephone, directs calls, and records messages or receipts for donations.
• Receives visitors, provides general information about Salvation Army services.
• Maintains accurate records, intake cards, and resident roster; logs pertinent information.
• Monitors facility security: checks doors/windows, patrols, and cameras; responds to incidents.
• Distributes towels, linens, and basic personal items; assists with donations receipts.
• Prepares and maintains HMIS data entries and essential documentation.
