Job summary

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking an Animal Services Assistant to support front desk operations and on-site animal care. You will combine administrative duties with hands-on tasks in the shelter.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas driver's license, strong computer and communication skills, and a willingness to handle all types of household pets and assist with medical procedures as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Texas driver’s license.
• Strong computer, communication and multitasking skills.
• Willingness to handle all types of household pets and assist with shelter medical/euthanasia when necessary.
• Prior animal services experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and professional customer service to patrons and visitors.
• Perform front desk clerical duties: answering calls, managing records, processing check-ins/check-outs and collecting fees.
• Assist with animal intakes and handle dogs, cats, rodents, birds and reptiles.
• Coordinate adoption applications and assist with animal transfers to rescue organizations.
• Assist Animal Control Officers with shelter cleaning and animal care including vaccinations and microchipping.
