Job summary

The Humane Society of Catawba County is seeking a dependable Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of our shelter facilities in Newton, NC. The role focuses on keeping buildings, grounds, and equipment safe, clean, and welcoming for animals, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, and comfortable coordinating repairs, scheduling contractors, and helping with budgeting for improvements while ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance or related field.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and general upkeep.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and power tools safely.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance and operation of shelter buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize failures and repairs.
• Coordinate and perform repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and related systems.
• Maintain grounds, parking areas and walkways for safety and appearance.
• Schedule and supervise outside contractors and vendors for specialized work.
• Inspect facilities to identify maintenance needs and keep records.
• Assist with planning, budgeting, and cost estimation for improvements and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA standards and fire safety regulations.
• Support staff with room setups, events and facility-related needs.
