Job summary

Our Saviour’s Community Services (OSCS) operates a part-time cook position in the shelter, providing meals and supporting the shelter team. The role emphasizes planning nutritious menus, collaborating with volunteers, and maintaining food safety standards.

You'll work 20-24 hours weekly on-site, coordinating with the Shelter Manager and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure meals reflect dignity and meet dietary needs.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of relevant personal, education, or work experience preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes and portion meals.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan weekly meal menus with input from staff and volunteers.
• Prepare and cook meals according to scheduled service times.
• Ensure meals meet basic nutrition and dietary requirements.
• Safely store, label, and rotate food items following food safety guidelines.
• Track pantry, refrigerator, and freezer supply weekly.
• Maintain organized and accurate food inventory logs.
• Place and receive food orders with Shelter Manager approval.
• Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator to schedule and support volunteer meal groups.
• Keep kitchen areas clean and sanitary; follow all safety requirements.
• Attend weekly check-ins with Shelter Manager.
