Job summary

Lantern Community Services is hiring Residential Aides for our single adult male shelter in Ozone Park, Queens. You will provide direct services, serve as the link between clients and staff, and help ensure a safe, supportive environment for residents.

We seek compassionate candidates with prior shelter or care experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond calmly in urgent situations. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; food handler certification is required or obtainable

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Food handler's certification is required or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Fosters a nurturing and welcoming environment for clients.
• Processes new client intakes and bed assignments.
• Assists in planning recreational activities and events.
• Maintains daily logs and sign-ins.
• Responds to incidents with Shift Supervisor and security staff.
• Provides meals and conducts safety drills as needed.
• Escorts clients to appointments and enforces shelter rules.
• Performs inventory of equipment and supplies.
