Job summary

The City of Rocky Mount is seeking a part-time Animal Services aide to assist with the overall care of animals in the shelter. Under supervision of the Animal Services Supervisor, the position supports daily shelter operations, feeding and caring for animals, and helping the public with adoptions and returns.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience in animal care; a valid NC driver’s license is preferred for field-related duties.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing and basic math required.
• Sufficient experience to understand duties typical for shelter work (1–2 years preferred).
• Knowledge of animal care and shelter operations helpful.

• Keep the animal shelter clean and safe.
• Feeding, handling, and custodial care of animals in the shelter.
• Assist the public with claiming and adopting animals.
