Job summary

City of Rocky Mount’s Police Department is seeking a part-time Animal Control Assistant to help maintain the city animal shelter, feed and handle animals, and assist the public with claiming and adopting animals. Under the supervision of the Animal Services Supervisor, the role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and some related experience, plus a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

The work spans indoors, outdoors, and shelter environments with exposure to animals and weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Some related experience, or completion of an apprenticeship/internship, preferred.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the animal shelter in a clean and safe condition.
• Feed, handle, and provide custodial care to animals in the shelter.
• Assist the public in claiming and adopting animals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
