Job summary

The City of Irvine is seeking a part-time Animal Care Attendant to assist with daily care and enrichment for shelter animals. You will conduct adoption counseling, behavior assessments, and provide excellent customer service to the public. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work varied shifts.

Responsibilities include daily feeding, cleaning, kennel enrichment, and data entry in our shelter database. Weekend and holiday availability required as part of a flexible schedule at the Irvine Animal

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; some experience caring for or handling animals is preferred.
Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry equipment up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Promote positive relationships with the public, management team, staff, volunteers, and Animal Services Officers.
Provide high standards of animal husbandry, customer service, conflict resolution, and communication to the public while upholding Center policies.
Complete daily cleaning and feeding routines in a timely, organized, and professional manner.
Provide kennel enrichment, train, and socialize animals in assigned area.
Monitor the health of shelter animals and follow established procedures if symptoms arise.
Safely handle animals, including domestic pets, wildlife, and small livestock.
Enter clear data and notes using database software.
Engage with volunteers by providing training and supervision.
Learn about personalities and traits of adoptable pets and facilitate introductions per Center protocols.
