Job summary

The City of Cedar Rapids seeks a dedicated Temporary Animal Shelter Technician to join our Animal Control team. This part-time position supports daily care, sanitation, and humane treatment of shelter animals, ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff and animals.

Responsibilities include cleaning kennels, feeding and exercising animals, recording observations, and assisting with enrichment and daily operations. A High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects kennels and animal shelter runs.
• Feeds and waters animals daily.
• Observes animals and notes health and behavior for staff review.
• Provides daily exercise and enrichment for animals.
• Maintains cleanliness and supplies in holding rooms and storage areas.
• Operates and maintains shelter equipment and reports repairs needed.
• Performs grounds maintenance and safe handling of animals.
