Job summary

The City of Cedar Hill is seeking a part-time Animal Shelter Attendant to maintain the shelter, care for animals, and assist the public. Duties include cleaning kennels, feeding and socializing animals, and supporting adoption and reclaim procedures.

Applicants should be able to lift 50 pounds, work weekends/holidays, and pass a drug screen and background check. A HS diploma or GED is required; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Experience with animal care preferred.
• Must lift up to 50 pounds; two-person lift for heavier items.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean kennel areas.
• Care for and socialize animals; assist with vaccinations.
• Assist with intake, adoptions, and reclaiming lost animals.
• Monitor animal health and assist with euthanasia as needed.
• Assist front desk with inquiries and fee processing.
• Open/close shifts; weekends and holidays as needed.
