Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a dedicated supervisor to oversee shelter operations, staff and volunteers. You will coordinate intake, provide crisis response, and ensure compliant service delivery for residents and participants.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training, client intake, room assignments, and maintaining records. Prior experience in human services and with the homeless population is preferred, with management experience being a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
  • Two years' experience in Human Services desired, with one year of experience working with the homeless population.
  • Management experience is helpful.

  • Adjusts shelter advocate schedules as needed to ensure coverage.
  • Trains staff and volunteers on policies, procedures and record keeping.
  • Provides input to management on shelter advocate performance.
  • Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents.
  • Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities.
  • Supervises shelter residents to ensure rules and policies are followed.
  • Assists with client needs and refers to the case manager as appropriate.
  • Provides de-escalation and crisis response when needed.
  • Answers calls and records messages.
  • Maintains cleanliness of shelter common areas.
  • Assists with food service preparations and serving.
  • Ensures shift documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Performs room inspections.
  • Supervises volunteers when assigned.

  • Trains and assists staff and volunteers regarding policies, procedures and record keeping.
  • Provide input to management on shelter advocate performance.
  • Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents.
  • Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities.
  • Provides necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed.
  • Assist with client needs, refer to case manager as appropriate.
  • Provide de-escalation and crisis response.
  • Answers telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate.
  • Maintain cleanliness of shelter common areas.
  • Assist with food service preparations and serving.
  • Ensures shift is documented according to procedures.
  • Performs room inspections.
  • Supervises volunteers, when assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Experience:
