Job summary

Polk Mechanical Company LLC in Dallas, TX is seeking a Sheetmetal Apprentice to help fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products such as ductwork, plenums, and air moving equipment while learning the trade.

You will assist with setting up fabricating machines, installing ductwork, and inspecting work under supervision, developing skills in safety practices and trade techniques. This is an on-site position with growth opportunities in a growing HVAC team.

Qualifications

• Experience with sheetmetal in HVAC/mechanical environments is preferred.
• 1 year of sheetmetal experience in commercial settings preferred.
• Strong math basics and ability to read blueprints.
• Willingness to learn and develop sheetmetal trade skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and operating fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses.
• Use hand-held power tools, air hammers, and hand tools to assemble ductwork and sheet metal assemblies.
• Assist with installation of ductwork and sheet metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications.
• Assist with installation of air moving equipment such as air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters.
• Assist in inspecting and testing installations for conformance with project requirements.
• Work under supervision to learn proper trade techniques and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Use hand-held power tools, air hammers, and hand tools to assist in assembling ductwork and other sheet metal assemblies
• Assist with installation of ductwork and sheet metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications
