Job summary

Mittera is seeking a Sheetfed Second Press Operator to assist with setup and operation of a printing press, working with the Press Operator and crew to meet customer specifications and deadlines.

You will help with ink management, plate mounting, wash-up, and equipment setup while ensuring quality control and minimizing waste. This role emphasizes reliability, safety, and adherence to procedures in a fast-paced pressroom.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• 1–3+ years of experience as a multicolor web second press operator preferred.
• Ability to read job tickets, layouts and artwork before starting work.
• Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Basic math skills for measurements and problem solving.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions.
• Must work well under deadlines and stay organized with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates reliability, quality focus, and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Keeps feeder loaded with sheets of paper at all times.
• Reads and understands job tickets, layout sheets and artwork before starting.
• Assists in setup, make ready, wash-up and cleaning procedures.
• Records ink usage and checks for plate imperfections and sheet marks.
• Maintains compliance with OSHA/EPA rules and company safety guidelines.
• Performs routine maintenance on pressroom equipment and notes issues.
