Job summary

Chatsworth Products (CPI) seeks skilled welders for our New Bern, NC facility. This role focuses on welding sheet metal cabinets and related items, following blueprints and production schedules. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun).

Under supervision, you will set up and operate welding equipment, prepare surfaces, cut materials, and maintain a safe, organized work area. Employee ownership is encouraged as CPI offers ownership opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education preferred.
• Production welding with sheet metal experience preferred.
• Must pass welding test demonstrating capability to weld sheet metal products.
• Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications.
• Proficient in using measuring devices for product inspection.
• Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictate.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates equipment used to weld metal cabinets and related products.
• Plans details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements.
• Welds sheet metal in various positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.).
• Prepares surfaces and uses sanding prior to welding.
• Uses cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
• Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Reads from blueprints, engineering specifications and production schedules.
• Assists other areas after welding operations are completed.
