Chatsworth Products Inc. in New Bern, NC is seeking skilled Welders to join our manufacturing team. You will set up and operate gas and electric welding equipment to fabricate metal cabinets and related products, working across multiple shifts including weekends.

You will read blueprints, maintain quality and safety standards, and support adjacent areas as required. Experience with sheet metal welding, blueprint interpretation, and a strong safety mindset are essential.

CPI has an immediate need for Welders in CPI’s New Bern, NC location across 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) shifts.As a CPI Welder, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world’s digital technology. Day to day, you will, under direct supervision, set up, and operate gas and electric welding equipment used in the manufacturing of metal cabinets. Responsible for meeting safety, quality and productivity expectations.Essential Functions:1. Under supervision, sets up and operates different types of equipment used to weld metal cabinets and other related products.2. Plans details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements.3. Welds sheet metal using different welding positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.).4. Cleans and prepares surfaces (including sanding) to be welded.5. Uses cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.6. Builds up worn or defective surfaces.7. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.8. Works from blueprint, engineering specifications and production schedules.9. Upon completion of welding operations, assists other areas as needed.Additional Functions:Continuously maintains a clean work area. Disposes of trash and production scrap. Basic reading, writing and numerical ability.Proficient in using measuring devices as required for product inspection.Available and willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictates.Must be able to work with minimal supervision.PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be knowledgeable of safe operating rules and procedures and demonstrate competence though written and practical application.Must wear all required personal protective equipment, especially eye protection due to the considerable glare emitted from work.Work involves:Varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable.Lift up to 50 lbs.Occasional pushing/pulling of carts with loaded materialAttention and care required to prevent injury to others when lifting, carrying, and manipulating lengthy materials (e.g. 10’)Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and working on structures of varying height and length.Frequent elbow/wrist movement while grasping parts and finished assembly.Constant standing and walkingWork area must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips.As a CPI, Welder, you will also enjoy the unique benefits of becoming a CPI Employee Owner.
