Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic in Roanoke, VA, on-site, full-time. The role focuses on fabrication, installation, and repair of sheet metal systems within commercial/industrial construction.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years of experience, with ductwork expertise and blueprint-reading skills. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to sites are required. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic.
• Proficiency with ductwork, air handling units, VAV boxes, and fan power boxes.
• Ability to read blueprints and convert them to shop drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and manipulate large pieces of metal.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, including ductwork, air handling units, VAV boxes, and fan power boxes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication and installation.
• Measure and mark dimensions on metal sheets using gauges, templates, and scribes.
• Convert blueprints into shop drawings to be followed in construction or assembly.
• Inspect assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications using calipers, scales, and micrometer.
