Qualified candidates have at least 2 years in commercial aircraft maintenance and sheet metal experience, with the ability to work shifts and obtain an airport SIDA badge if required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial aircraft maintenance experience (e.g., B737, A320, B747).
  • At least 2 years hands-on aircraft structures and sheet metal experience, including repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy maintenance, structural repairs, modifications, and overhauls in a hangar.
  • Plan, execute, and verify repairs using manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and turnaround inspections for structural integrity.
  • Troubleshoot structural and related system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Replace components, install fasteners, and perform major structural repairs.
  • Fabricate sheet metal, cut, drill, rivet, and install skins and brackets.
  • Install and remove structural fasteners (rivets, hi-loks, etc.).
  • Follow safety practices for tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain and secure personal tools in a dedicated toolbox.

Job description

Job Title: Structures Technician

Sheet Metal Mechanics will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft structures and related systems for Boeing Aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and internal standards. This role covers both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in a hangar environment, real-time line maintenance in support of active operations, and rapid-response AOG work to return aircraft to service quickly and safely.

Pay Breakdowns:

2 - 4 years: $35.00 an hour

5 - 9 years: $40.00 an hour

10+ years: $45.00 an hour

Full Time and Half for OT. Per Diem split given for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Perform heavy maintenance, structural repairs, modifications, and overhauls on aircraft systems and structures in a hangar environment.

  • Use technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to plan, execute, and verify structural repairs and modifications.

  • Carry out pre-flight, post-flight, and turnaround inspections focused on structural integrity and readiness.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve structural and related systems issues during aircraft operations to minimize downtime.

  • Replace components, install fasteners, and perform minor and major structural repairs to ensure aircraft airworthiness.

  • Perform sheet metal fabrication, cutting, drilling, riveting, and installation of structural components such as skins, doublers, and brackets.

  • Install and remove structural fasteners including rivets, hi-loks, and other specialized hardware according to specifications.

  • Follow safe work practices when handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials in accordance with applicable guidelines.

  • Maintain personal tools in good working order and ensure they are organized and secured in appropriate toolboxes.

Required Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial aircraft maintenance (for example, B737, A320, B747) or equivalent aircraft platforms.

  • At least 2 years of hands-on aircraft structures and sheet metal experience, including repair and modification work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environments.

  • Familiarity with hazardous material handling and related safety procedures.

  • Ability to obtain an airport SIDA badge

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in a hangar environment supporting active aircraft operations. The current schedule is a day shift, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of adding second and third shifts, so candidates who are flexible on shift assignments are preferred, though specific shift preferences can still be considered. The role involves working around operational aircraft, using a full range of sheet metal and structural tools and equipment, and occasionally traveling to remote locations for AOG support. The environment is fast paced, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and urgency in returning aircraft to service. Technicians are expected to bring and maintain their own tools, stored in a toolbox, while adhering to all applicable safety and maintenance procedures.S

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
