Position
Sheet Metal Mechanic (non‑exempt)
Primary Purpose
Fabricate, assemble, and install all types of sheet metal products and equipment for commercial and industrial settings. Work may include set‑up and operation of shop fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Assist and lead in installing sheet metal ductwork and supporting systems used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.
Essential Functions
- Installs and repairs ductwork and sheet metal components per plans, specifications and contract
- Installs joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required
- Installs equipment such as air handling units, VAV boxes, fan power boxes, and other systems used in commercial & industrial construction
- Ensure safety is a priority during all work activities, including using hand tools
- Determines project requirements, such as scope, assembly sequences, required methods, materials, using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal instructions
- Inspect completed work to ensure precision, quality and compliance with project standards

Requirements
This position is classified Full‑Time (non‑exempt) with some overtime expected. Basic qualifications for this position include:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; at least 18 years of age
- Minimum 5 years work experience in Sheet Metal Mechanic or similar role with in‑depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and processes
- Current valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
- Perform basic mathematical operations rapidly and quickly
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Effectively operate sheet metal machinery and tools; provide and properly use basic hand tools as required for tasks

- Be flexible, some long days or night shift work may be required
Preferred Candidates will:
- Have certification in sheet metal fabrication or related field
- Experience with HVAC systems installation

Physical Demands Classification
