Job summary

ColonialWebb Contractors Company is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic in Charlottesville, Virginia. In this role, you will select and fabricate sheet metal according to specifications, and install equipment for commercial construction projects. Qualifications

• Journeyman level experience preferred, license not required.
• Safety-minded individual with experience in commercial construction.

Responsibilities

• Select gauge and type of sheet metal according to SMACNA.
• Locate and mark dimensions per plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Fabricate duct onsite according to specifications.
• Erect and install equipment such as air handling units.

Skills

Work experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for commercial construction projects

Ability to read and work from drawings

Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations

Knowledge of IMC and SMACNA standards

A day in the life:

• Select gauge and type of sheet metal according to SMACNA
• Locate and mark dimensions per plans, specifications, and shop drawings
• Fabricate duct onsite to include miter and alterations to shop fabricated duct
• Erect and install equipment such as air handling units, VAV boxes, fan power boxes, and others as required

You should have:

• Work experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for commercial construction projects. (Journeyman level experience is preferred, license not required)
• Experience with layouts and the ability to read and work from drawings
• Safety‑minded and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Knowledge of International Mechanical Code (IMC) and Sheet Metal and Air Contractors National Association (SMACNA) standards
