Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking a Sheet Metal Helper to assist the Sheet Metal Mechanic with fabrication, assembly, installation, and repairs of sheet metal products such as ductwork and diffusers. Work is performed at construction sites under supervision and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict adherence to all safety rules and procedures.
• Follow directions from project supervisors and perform tasks to set procedures.
• Assist in setting up tools and equipment and lifting or positioning materials.
• Load and unload construction materials from trucks to building sites.
• Keep work areas clean and restock supplies as needed.
• Make subassemblies and hangers as directed by the Mechanic.
• Assist in prefabrication and securing materials during installation.
• Perform routine maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.

Sheetmetal Helper - Construction

The primary responsibility of the Sheet Metal Helper is to assist the Sheet Metal Mechanic with fabrication, assembly, installation, and repairs of sheet metal products and equipment such as ductwork, plenums, fire dampers, and diffusers. The Helper generally reports to the Sheet Metal Mechanic, but that can vary based on the job or jobsite.

A Day in the Life:

• Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices
• Share the "Courage to Care" message with teammates and serve as a positive example of safety
• Follow specific directions from project supervisors
• Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure
• Help set up tools and equipment
• Load and unload construction materials from trucks and into building
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
• Make subassemblies and hangers as directed by Mechanic
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and devices during prefabrication
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of mechanic's tools and equipment
• Work safely, encourage others to do so, and comply with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures and practices
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
