Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking a Sheet Metal Foreman to supervise mechanics, apprentices and helpers on construction projects in Richmond, VA. You will interpret drawings, assign tasks, and ensure safety and quality on site.

This leadership role requires coordinating crews to meet schedules, enforcing standards, and delivering reliable ductwork installations per specifications. ColonialWebb offers strong benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of IMC, SMACNA and general HVAC systems.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification and OSHA safety regulations knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, submittals and specs.
  • Ability to supervise crews to install work safely with quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of mechanics, apprentices and helpers.
  • Inspect work in process and completed to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Direct installation of ductwork and joints per drawings and job orders.
  • Review and release shop drawings and spool drawings for timely field installation.
  • Enforce safety regulations and company policies on site.
  • Establish work sequences to meet construction schedules and deadlines.

Sheet Metal Foreman - Construction

The primary responsibility of the Sheet Metal Foreman is supervising and coordinating activities of Mechanics, Apprentices, and Helpers engaged in assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment. The Foreman reports to the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.

A Day in the Life
  • Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices
  • Follow specific directions from project supervision and assign workers to specific duties; supervise and coordinate activities of assigned teammates
  • Inspect work (in process and completed) to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Direct installation of equipment and joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of installation
  • Review and release CWC Shop Drawings and Spool Drawings for timely field installation
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel
  • Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
  • Maintain time and production records
  • Material handling as necessary
  • Teach, coach and provide direction to mechanics, apprentices and helpers to work safely, deliver quality, and work productivity
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
You Should Have
  • Possess a minimum of four years of industry experience
  • Possess knowledge of International Mechanical Code (IMC), SMACNA and general HVAC system
  • Possess OSHA 10-hour certification and knowledge OSHA safety regulations
  • Ability to demonstrate foresight and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use current technology (i.e., laptop computer, tablet, smartphone, Microsoft Teams)
  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
  • Ability to install work from drawings, submittals and specifications
  • Ability to direct crews to install work safely with quality and efficiency
  • Ability to make decisions with information on hand
  • Ability to read and understand project related documents in the English language
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with teammates in other trades
  • Ability to work easily and skillfully with hands
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when working toward deadlines
