Job summary

Mestek, Inc. in Westfield, MA, is seeking a sheet metal fabricator to setup and operate a range of fabricating machinery. You will read work orders and part prints, follow standard procedures, and ensure parts meet quality specs.

Responsibilities include using calipers and micrometers, moving materials with lifts and platform trucks, and maintaining safety and production records. Team lifting of heavy parts may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow both verbal and written work orders.
• Familiarity with hand, air, and packing tools.
• Ability to operate hoists, hand trucks, and platform trucks as necessary.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and 100+ pounds in a team lifting situation.
• Ability to perform repetitive bending, reaching, stretching, lifting, twisting, pushing, and pulling.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, maintains, and operates sheet metal fabricating machinery, including Roll Former, Fin Press Expanding, Shear, Press Brake, Tube Flare, Cut Off Saw, and Amada/N/C Turret Punch Press.
• Performs production duties from Work Orders, Part Prints, Standard Setup Procedures, Quality, and OJT manuals.
• Uses calipers, rulers, squares, protractor, veneer, gauges, hand tools, wrenches, micrometers, and hex keys.
• Removes and inspects finished products for compliance to specifications and reports defects; makes machine adjustments as directed.
• Uses lift and/or platform trucks to move supplied and finished products.
• Maintains required production, safety, and other records and data.
• Inspects and reports defective and unsafe machinery/parts to supervision.
• Wears and maintains safety equipment and obeys safety rules.
