Job summary

Century Contractors, LLC is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare and coordinate full estimates for large, complex projects and to provide complete bid pricing. The role requires evaluating RFQs/RFPs, developing RFIs, and ensuring timely estimate completion while reviewing all cost components.

Responsibilities include taking-offs, obtaining material pricing and subcontractor bids, and maintaining cost databases.

Qualifications

  • Being a team player.
  • 8–10 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as bid front ends, scopes of work, blueprints, safety programs, QA/QC manuals.
  • Speak effectively before groups of clients or employees.
  • Knowledge of Quickpen software (or similar estimating systems) is strongly encouraged.
  • Experience with estimating techniques and cost control.
  • Ability to perform detailed labor and material take-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client’s documents and providing complete conceptual and total bid price.
  • Review RFQs, RFPs and Bid Documents.
  • Develop RFIs for inconsistencies and missing information in the contract documents.
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates.
  • Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop pertinent clarifications and exclusions.
  • Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
  • Execute Quickpen take-offs of construction documents.
  • Obtain pricing for materials.
  • Obtain bids and verify scope from subcontractors.
  • Prepare cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and other direct costs incurred for the installation of items.
  • Make an estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not available.
  • Informing immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted item or computer database.
  • Update computer database labor and materials.
  • Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Print documents and plans.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Project turnover manuals.
